Volunteering with the Cudas

A swim team cannot exist without weekly volunteers. Some do big jobs, some do medium jobs, and some do small jobs—and all are essential to participate in meets and run the team. Cuda parents also enjoy volunteering together and serving the community’s kids! Every Cuda family is required to pitch in by working volunteer shifts to earn eight volunteer points during the season. Not earning the required eight points results in your registration’s volunteer check being cashed at the end of the season.

We don’t want your volunteer fee. The team relies heavily on parent volunteers on deck for every swim meet, so we encourage you to find a job you love to get your eight points. Our Volunteer Coordinator is available and happy to help you find the right-fit role and fulfill your requirement.

You can earn FREE registration for going above and beyond! To foster a spirit of service on our team, we reward volunteer points above and beyond the requirement. For each point above eight, your family earns one raffle entry for an end-of-season drawing for free family registration next season. It happens to one family every year, and it could be yours!

Volunteering FAQs

Who can earn points for my family?
Any responsible family member aged 16 and over.

What if I can’t work my volunteer shift at the last minute?
Let the Volunteer Coordinator know as soon as you do! We understand that emergencies and illnesses happen. Uncontrollable circumstances will not penalize a family’s volunteer points. Schedule changes, out-of-town guests, alternate activities, and other similar circumstances do not excuse a committed volunteer shift, so do your best in these cases to find a replacement for yourself. Often the Volunteer Coordinator can help in this effort. Your replacement will earn the point/s instead.

What if I don’t show up for my volunteer shift?
All on-deck jobs are required to be filled at meets, so the Volunteer Coordinator will scramble to find a fill-in, who will earn the point/s instead.

What if volunteering is impossible for my family this season?
Talk to the Volunteer Coordinator about your options!

How do I sign up for a volunteer job?
On the Cudas home page or Meet Signup page, find the upcoming meet, select Job Signup, and click edit for the parent who will be volunteering. View and select from the available volunteer job openings. Your points will be automatically tallied after the meet is complete.

Is Sprint Sizzler included in my volunteer points?
If your child is a swimmer in the Sprint Sizzler invitational, you are required to work a volunteer shift for each day your family participates, outside of the regular-season eight-point requirement. Though volunteering is required regardless, any shifts worked at Sizzler WILL ALSO EARN EXTRA POINTS above and beyond your 8 to go toward the end-of-season raffle for free registration. If your child is NOT swimming in one of the Sprint Sizzler days, you are also welcome to pitch in at the meet and earn extra regular-season volunteer points!

What are the available volunteer jobs that earn points?

Meet jobs are one-time volunteer jobs that get signed up for meet by meet. They are worth one or two points per shift depending on role. Each dual meet has two volunteer shifts, each lasting about 2.5 hours.
